Petroleum Geopark Wonocolo

This is one place to visit if one is keen to know firsthand about traditional oil mining and processing. It has been operational since 1800s, passed down from generation to generation, according to some workers present at the site on the day we visited. There are hundreds of old wells in the area, and hundreds of barrels oil and gas are produced daily.

The road to Teksas Wonocolo is scenic and enjoyable though a little bumpy. For a day-outing, this is a thoroughly worthy educational destination. If nothing else, one will appreciate how far we have come from such a traditional mode to today’s modern oil and gas production.

It is always a blessing to have a community working hard together, preserving such precious heritage.
